Pastoral Exhibition 2005
The exhibition, installed at the Burtch–Udall–Boyd House on October 15 and 16, 2005, featured the work of 15 Vermont artists, artisans, musicians, and food producers.
Built in 1786, the Burtch–Udall–Boyd House remains one of the finest houses from the Federal period in Vermont and, remarkably, has undergone very few changes or alterations despite centuries of development surrounding it. A rare and intact survivor, it retains its original architectural integrity, has had very little modern intervention, and clearly illustrates how early Vermonters lived. The house, now empty of furnishings, reflects generations of use and the weathering of time. However, the coat belonging to its last occupant, Theron Boyd, still hangs on its hook in the carriage barn.
The house is owned and operated by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation.
